Don Alan (1926-1999) almost single handily popularized the Chop Cup on televsion in the 1960s and in his persoanl appearances. Don Alan changed the face of close-up magic. Many professionals perfoming today  either perform routines made famous by Mr. Alan or were influenced by him.
